Bob has been an industry leader in the development and deployment of Broadband Access. He has broad experience in access, switching and routing, and wireless technologies and markets.

Consulting Assignments:

  • Tracking, forecasting, and analyzing all aspects of the TelcoTV markets including content, infrastructure systems and software, set-top boxes, back office systems, and content strategies.
  • Tracking, foreccasting, and analyzing the WiMAX and 3G markets for voice, data, and mobile TV services.
  • Tracking, forecasting, and analyzing IP, ATM, DSL, cable, voice over packet, and wireless technologies and markets.

  • Analyzed FTTP and voice, data, and video service bundling strategies by the major U.S. telephone companies for a major Asian carrier. Analyzed broadband network architectures based on the DSL Forum's TR-025 Core Network Recommendations for a major European carrier.

  • Wrote report on telephone company strategies for broadcast video services worldwide using ADSL, VDSL, and other broadband networking technologies. Wrote report on the cable telephony market in North America that describes a major market opportunity for the U.S. cable companies.

  • Performed due diligence for the potential acquisition of a network equipment vendor.

  • Researched trends in ATM switching and IP routing in carrier core networks in the U.S. including conversion from circuit packet or cell switching, emergence of MPLS, and QoS requirements.

  • Developed data architecture for fixed wireless local loop system.

  • Assisted manufacturers outside the U.S. to implement  BRI and PRI ISDN products, including terminal adapters, routers, telephones, and PBX systems.

  • Assisted Internet service providers to develop access strategies.

  • Regularly published product reviews, articles, and columns in America's Network, LAN Times, Network Computing Network World. & Nikkei Communications.

  • Founder and current chairman of the California Broadband Users’ Group (CalBUG), formerly the California ISDN Users’ Group. Organized international interoperability workshops for PPP, L2TP, and IPSec. Organized user conferences on broadband access technologies.

Experience:

As Director of Packet Networks and Services at RHK, Inc., Bob Larribeau was responsible for RHK’s access, switching and routing, voice over packet, and OSS services. He set strategies for and managed a group of nine analysts.As Director of Product Planning and Marketing, Bob positioned Fujitsu as a leader in the U.S. ISDN market through the development and marketing of a strong line of ISDN voice and data products, and the development of strategic relationships.He was responsible for ISDN voice and data applications including ISDN data, ISDN Centrex, and ISDN credit card authorization.He held a succession of increasingly responsible technical and marketing positions in computer hardware, software, services, and telecommunications with a major emphasis on data communications:
